Michael Labarca was born in Venezuela. He coursed studies in theatre and filmmaking. He has directed several short films: Slaves (2010), official selection in the Munich International Festival of Film Schools (Germany) and the SKENA UP International Students Film & Theatre Festival (Kosovo); Pigs (2010); Eduardo Rey (2013) and Resistance (2014), which awarded in several national festivals. He’s the writer and director of the fiction series Barrio Sur. In 2016 he made his thesis short film: “The guilt, probably”, third place in Cinéfondation of The Festival de Cannes and the First Price in Festival Internacional de Quito, Best Short Film in Festival Internacional de Cine de Guayaquil 2016, Best Student Film in Bucarest ShortCut Cinefest, Rumania, and Best Short Film in A Corto Plazo, Francia-Venezuela.
